I am so disappointed in Nigeria Police laments an EBB Reader!

Nigeria police are meant to be friends and peace makers to the nation.

Today it is no longer the same.  Nigeria police are now known to be corrupt and bribe collectors, which we may say is due to certain reasons like :

* Lack of passion and aims;

Some of these Nigeria First Class citizens (police) have finally lost the passion partly because the system terms is not the way they saw it or was informed before they join the force.

Some of them never joined the police force due to passion,  rather due to lack of opportunities in the country for most citizens.

So in this state of mind; they intend to just earn salary every month and support it with the "free money" they extort from the people out there, not minding what the situation might be.

These set of police are not eager to settle dispute of any sort or act as a peace maker in the public. To him, its disturbance.

Like they fondly say; make una settle una selves.

I recall an encounter few years ago where a wheel barrow pusher tried to run away with an old woman's baggage, I intervened and called a policewoman nearby to handle it better. She bluntly told me, " Abeg, no disturb me, go and handle him since you are already doing so"

Like seriously?

Greediness;

The greedy policeman who can never be satisfied with whatever he earns as salary would not appreciate whatever improvement that comes into the force for the betterment of the country.

Because that will always be a hindrance for him to eat from where they did not sow. These men can always be careless because they're so desperate and mean.

In so many cases, it has been noted that the police killed or caused accident on the way just because of *Free money*.

These actions are not done due to they're not being paid rather because of hunger and love for money which come in unofficially.

Little or no provision from the Government;

We are all aware the country we are in presently,  a country where a larger part of the government is only interested in the things concerning them,  where works are done on personal interest,  where even the heads of state also eat from the allowances of the state.

If the government can not make provision for the shoes,  uniforms and other little things for the force men, why will you not try to consider the act of *free money * from the police men in the street.

Most of them are poorly dressed and equipped. This awful looks at times would make you think probably devalue them. 

Mehn, I always admire the guys in the Navy and Military. So neat, good-looking, well-mannered, disciplined. Kudos Guys! Great job!

The periods you get to see a well dressed and neat Police is those at the *healms of affairs*  Commissioners, IGs.

If government will be providing good guns and at least increase the number of bullets for the police men on duty. On a lighter mood.

The present governor of Lagos State, Ambode Adewunmi is going a good job with the changes of their operational vehicles. But I feel that isn't the major problem of the Police Force. Attitude, Character deserves a huge chance for lasting changes.
