Real Life Series: My Early days on the Internet: My Reflection and Lessons - 1
In 2003 I travelled home for my dad's burial, within that period, I would travel with my sister from A-china to as far as Onitsha to be able to access the internet.
Funny right? Yes, but then, it wasn't funny but it was fun.
At the beginning, I find it unbelievable that one could connect and CHAT with someone who stays very far away without seeing each other.
While she was chatting away, my role was just to watch her, but my thought was, 'What is this my sister doing for crying out loud?'
Then, the strategy my sister mapped out was for us to sneak out pretending we were paying a visit to a friend nearby whereas we often took journeys of 3 hours each time from our place of residence to Onitsha."
Our father died around this time and our family was in mourning mood. There was preparation for his burial. During this time, we left again as usual, but we were caught. Anyway, my sister denied
Long and short, that was where it all started
As a child, I was very inquisitive and daring. It became more tough as a teenager. I had a mind of my own and like going where people refused to go.
My first year on the internet, I did what my sister did and even more. Lol
Yahoo messenger no be "better" thing o. I will enter the many rooms in it and all those Indians, Australians, Naijareloadeds and 419s will add me up and start chatting.
What I still do not recall is the importance of our chats. With the information I had, I believed the only thing that is to be done online is to make male friends. Get them to spend on you.
Lol, I chopped plenty awoofs o. Some would send recharge cards or we meet physically and they spended the money!
Somehow, God was on my side. I never accepted any meeting in a closed place. We were always meeting in the open.
Deep in my heart, I wanted to give more to the thousands of people I chat up with online. I made them share their problems and I offer the advise I best think would benefit them.
But you know na..... The major thing that trended online then was sex! Lovemaking! Phone sex and Webcam made it easier.
By the time I knew what was happening to me, I was already swimming in the ocean of pornography because as much as I never accepted or welcomed Webcam sex and phone sex, I needed to also have pretty good knowledge about the matter. Mehn, I was meeting so many people!
I consumed as many materials I could gather on the topic of sex. Don't ask me how further I went... Hahahaha
When I remember those days, I have no regrets that I went through those process. It helped and is still helping me till date.
