Sports news : IHEANACHO THUNDERBOLT GIVES NIGERIA VICTORY.

Kelechi Iheanacho's late strike ensured Nigeria came out victors against the Tanzanians as the tie ended
one-nil.

Though Nigeria's hopes of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations in Gabon 2017 were already dashed after loosing to Egypt in March. The number of teams were reduced to three following the withdrawal of Chad for financial reasons.

This was the team's first victory of the qualifying round at the Akwa-Ibom stadium on Saturday havingv ended the first game with Tanzania on a goaless draw last september.

The Super Eagles dominated the game and spurned a host of chances before Manchester City teenage striker Kelechi Ihleanacho struck with a thunderbolt strike in the 79th minute.

Victor Moses went close early in the game after firing a free-kick narrowly wide.Ahmed Musa also went very close to giving the team the lead but his attempt went woefully off target after he was set up by John Obi Mikel.

Iheanacho the pulled a fine save from the impressive Tanzanian's goalkeeper Aishi Manula as the Super Eagles continue to terrorise the opponent's defence.

The first half gradually timed-out and the Tanzanians were relieved to see it end goaless.

After the interval,Mikel was denied a header and Iheanacho too was denied by Manula again.Nigeria kept pushing until Iheanacho's 79th minute super strike sealed the victory from a 20-yard effort that rattled into the net.

Nigeria will now shift focus to the World Cup qualifiers which resumes next month against the Chipolopolo stars of Zambia.
